The federal government is closed. Hey, one less day to misspend money. Our government should only be involved in a handful of things: defense, roads and parks. Instead of negotiating, Democrats and Republicans are coming up with the most creative insults to demonize each other.
One person who is sick of it is congressman Tom McClintock (R-Mariposa). He decries the stand your ground stance Harry Reid is taking, refusing any negotiating. McClintock points out the congress has a history of talking things out. Now, he thinks Reid purposely ran out the clock for the sole purpose of blaming the GOP.
He spoke to that notion on the House floor today:
Are Republicans caving? Some interesting comments in the Washington Post from Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Clovis/Visalia):
Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) had choice words for fellow House Republicans who are willing to see the government shut down over their opposition to Obamacare: "Lemmings with suicide vests," he called them.
Nunes is one of a dozen GOP members pointed out as possibly caving.
Taxes on premiums? Confusing, but Forbes tries to answer.
