Didn't we just go through this? Another plan is floating around Sacramento to add a dollar per pack tobacco tax to the 2014 ballot.

Callers don't trust any sort of law. They think if it passes, it won't go to it's intended purpose (college scholarships) and money will be wasted in bureaucracy. Others think smokers are an easy target to go after.

The arguments are ridiculous. It will help reduce air pollution, as one caller suggested? Laughable. Reduce smoking? While there is some evidence between the correlation of raising taxes and cessation of smoking, some callers said it won't change their behavior.

Politicians will tax whatever they can as long as we let them. We already defeated one tobacco tax hike in November.

I'm not a smoker. I quit. But, I will always defend a smoker's right to smoke.

Phil Mickelson somewhat backpeddled on his comments that he wants to leave the state because of the high taxes. No need to apologize. This state can't be saved. How much more can we be taxed? Tiger Woods agreed with Phil, that he moved to Florida in part because of taxes.

I left Fresno for 10 years for Reno. And I came back. Callers fantasized where they could move: Florida, Texas, Oregon, Idaho and elsewhere. There is nowhere to run in Califronia from taxes.

Listener Stewart in Madera sent in this picture on how he celebrated the inauguration:

Remember this great performance at the inauguration by Beyonce:

I guess it was fake. She's scheduled for the Super Bowl halftime too.
