Crime has spiked in Fresno. What can be done to fix this and make downtown more palatable? One example of a business moving out of downtown

Coach Tim DeRuyter joined the show to talk about the new recruiting class. He also commented on his star returner, QB Derek Carr. He is a special player and as coach said, has set high goals for himself with his intention to win the Heisman.

About competing for recruits, he touts the location, fan base and winning tradition at Fresno State. Being centrally located in California allows for many recruits' families to come drive to each home game.

He feels his two DL juco transfers, Claudell Louis and Ioane Sagapolu will be great in their system.

Coach also talked about the new helmets: white helmets for a "White Out" event and black lids for the game around Halloween. He says they are also good recruiting tools.

Coach looks forward to the new Mountain West format, with a conference championship game. He is in favor of the playoff system after the 2014 season, and sees it expanding in the future from four teams to maybe 16.
