Kevin Meikle, director of the Fresno airport, joined the show live in-studio. He says that when Frontier Airlines starts service to Denver in May, it will bring 10 airlines to Fresno Yosemite International. The inevitable question of when Southwest comes to town was brought up. Meikle says that Fresno does not have the demand Southwest is looking for. But, Fresno is still pitching it to the company.

To help control costs, the airport tries to keep costs down to the airlines. When asked of why not drive to other areas (San Jose, LAX, SFO, etc.) to catch a cheaper, more convenient flight, Meikle said he price shopped to Washington. From LAX, it was $343. From Fresno, $392. And from San Jose, $462.
Meikle expects more competition with Frontier coming in, especially with more eastbound flights. The number one destination is Guadalajara, Mexico, making it the only airport in the country where the top destination is foreign.

Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) took some desert heat at a townhall meeting recently about immigration. At least he meets with his constituents face to face.

ABC 30 ran an interesting story about alternate measures Fresno State students are taking to protect themselves, since they cannot carry guns on campus:

Who is a supporter of guns? VP Joe Biden!?! He advocates a shotgun, but not an assault rifle, to protect yourself
