Congressman Devin Nunes (R-Clovis/Visalia) joined the show to explain a story we talked about yesterday. The Blaze reported he might vote a "clean" CR vote. Nunes says that is not true. He is concerned that the government shutdown has 70% of the CIA workforce on furlough. He also thinks it is ridiculous that open-air memorials in Washington such as the World War II memorial is barricaded off.
He does not fully support the Republican strategy, but the Democrats are overreaching by shutting down memorials. "These are ruthless people," Nunes said to describe the politics in Washington. He thinks that today's conference between Democrat and Republican leadership is for show, so the Democrats can appear to be "adults."
Nunes said that Obamacare is a "major car wreck, with the cars belonging to the Democrats." Nunes felt the strategy was to wait until the law actually failed until trying to defund Obamacare beforehand. He feels it was a mistake to defund it on October 1, the day enrollment started.
The congressman stands by his statement that his colleagues are "lemmings on fire." He is concerned that the Republican strategy will not achieve 218 votes. There is no alternative provided to Obamacare and it is not likely that the Democrats will give in.
A dirty Democratic trick to close the World War II memorial in Washington. It's an open-air location! Thankfully, for people like Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minnesota), veterans are able to get in, despite the shutdown. In an example of dirty politics, some Democrats are blaming Republicans as grandstanding when they complain about its closure.
One day Congress will get it right. They are in Washington to do the people's business. The bickering and the insults, the dirty political games lower their standing with the American public.
Standing up for the veterans, because it is just right. email@example.com
