With Memorial Day coming up, war veteran SSgt. David Castillo joined us in studio to discuss his two tours of Iraq. He believes that we should be out of Iraq years ago, but we are still there because of oil interests. He is unhappy that the Obama administration is cutting back on military spending, such as no raises, cuts in health care and closing down of on-base commissaries. |
We also talked about veterans views on Obama, and how he views public opinion on war.

Fresno police chief Jerry Dyer joined the show. He talked about the recent gang crackdown and threats on his department. When asked about response times, he said it is about 7 minutes for in-progress, life threatening situations, and 13 minutes for other types of crimes. Dyer weighed in on the union negotiations. He see his role has a facilitator between the union and the city. |
Dyer couldn't talk directly on Measure G (because he is still on the clock, and in uniform, which would be a violation of government code). But, he looks forward to putting the issue in the rear view mirror. He believes that Mayor Swearengin's support for Measure G is genuine.
A caller asked the Chief if he would run for sheriff. Dyer said his plan for the immediate future is to remain as Fresno police chief.
